On Wednesday 30th April, we were delighted to welcome back our Liverpool team who had completed the fourth round of transplants at Al Shifa hospital. To see coverage of our latest trip to Gaza in the Palestinian media (coverage is in Arabic) click here
ITV Granada's Rachel Townsend dropped by the Royal Liverpool Hospital to film the Al-Shifa team training with us, as the course reaches its final week. Click here to view her report. Echoing her sentiments, we hope that this training course will prove another step on the way to preventing needless deaths from kidney failure in the Gaza Strip. As Gaza's medics prepare to cross back into the Gaza Strip when the Refah border opens, we congratulate them and the staff at the Royal Liverpool Hospital on their very successful training exchange program!
Al-Shifa's medical team have now well and truly settled in after training at the Royal Liverpool Hospital for the past six weeks.
In addition to the medical training, the team have been able to indulge in sightseeing at some of Liverpool's renowned attractions, as well as meeting a whole host of interesting people and even participating in a quiz... but this has been the most exciting week by far, as the LITI team and the medics were invited to a reception at our famous town hall by none other than the Lord Mayor, Councillor Gary Millar! Local papers, such as the Liverpool Express reported on the afternoon tea treat , and the Mayor's generous reception even made the national news! A later visit from North West Tonight and a feature on their evening program made the al-Shifa team's stay as exciting as it has been fruitful and left us all eagerly anticipating the remainder of their training visit... |
